Be patient. I was re -reading H. David Coulter fabulous Hatha Yoga landmark reading for teachers The Anatomy of Hatha Yoga and I found this magnificent lesson on patience "Working with all lower back problems that don't go away with a few days of rest and recuperation is likely to require commitment to a long term program. To be on the safe side, drop false expectations and think in terms of 5-20 years of consistent , patient effort."
Or as Mr Iyengar puts it in The Path to Holistic health: "Health is not a commodity to be bargained for. It has to be earned through sweat." Whether you suffer from lower back pain or a different ailment, the harsh lesson of Yoga is to become patient. Eventually patience can itself become a relief in our super speedy world where everything should happen here-now.
